Supernova Relic Neutrino Search with Neutron Tagging at Super-Kamiokande-IV
نویسنده
چکیده
A search for Supernova Relic Neutrinos ν̄e’s is first conducted via inverse-beta-decay by tagging neutron capture on hydrogen at Super-Kamiokande-IV. The neutron tagging efficiency is determined to be (17.74 ± 0.04stat. ± 1.05sys.)%, while the corresponding accidental background probability is (1.06 ± 0.01stat. ± 0.18sys.)%. Using 960 days of data, we obtain 13 inverse-beta-decay candidates in the range of Eν̄e between 13.3 MeV and 31.3 MeV. All of the observed candidates are attributed to background. Upper limits at 90% C.L. are calculated in the absence of a signal. Preprint submitted to Astroparticle physics May 14, 2014

The Supernova Relic Neutrino Backgrounds at KamLAND and Super-Kamiokande
We calculate the Supernova Relic Neutrino (SRN) background flux for the KamLAND and Super-Kamiokande (Super-K) detectors, motivated by the reduction in background at Super-K and new results for the star formation history (e.g., from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS)). Our best estimate for the flux at Super-K is slightly below, but very close to the current Super-K upper limit. The Super-K up...
متن کاملDirect and Indirect Search for Dark Matter
Direct and indirect searches for dark matter (DM) particles are discussed. The search for a diffuse signal from DM annihilation in the Milky Way is presented using the atmospheric neutrino data from Super-Kamiokande-I, -II, -III. The analysis focuses on the model independent scenario with DM particles annihilating directly into pairs of neutrinos and antineutrinos. No signal contribution is all...

It has been hypothesized that large fluxes of neutrinos may be created in astrophysical “cosmic accelerators.” The primary background for a search for astrophysical neutrinos comes from atmospheric neutrinos, which do not exhibit the pointlike directional clustering that characterizes a distant astrophysical signal. We perform a search for neutrino point sources using the upward-going muon data...
متن کاملDirect Measurement of Supernova Neutrino Emission Parameters with a Gadolinium-Enhanced Super-Kamiokande Detector
The time-integrated luminosity and average energy of the neutrino emission spectrum are essential diagnostics of core-collapse supernovae. The SN 1987A electron antineutrino observations by the Kamiokande-II and IMB detectors are only roughly consistent with each other and theory. Using new measurements of the star formation rate history, we reinterpret the Super-Kamiokande upper bound on the e...
